Just a few days ago, the media reported that the first three smartphones on the Android One platform could not break through in India because the vendors were not interested in distributing them. Manufacturers have decided to move west and the Karbonn Sparkle V, which is available through Amazons, has just appeared on the UK market.
The Android One was launched in India in September this year, with the launch of low-cost smartphones priced at less than $ 100, which may not offer the most powerful configurations but regular operating system updates. Unfortunately, the local market flooded with Chinese products was not interested in this equipment and a large number of operators refused to sell them.
Three manufacturers of Android One devices, Karbonn, Spice and Micromax, had to look for other markets. Karbonn decided to choose Great Britain, where through the Amazons offers the Karbonn Sparkle V model, priced at £ 130.
It’s almost double the price compared to India, so you can expect that here too it will be hard to arouse interest in the hardware. All the more so since its configuration was designed primarily for developing markets and therefore is not one of the strongest.
Karbonn Sparkle V is equipped with Andorra 4.4.4 KitKat, as well as a 4.5-inch IPS touch screen that displays 480 x 854 pixels at 218 PPI. Its heart is the 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582 quad-core processor, enhanced with a Mali-400 graphics unit and 1GB of RAM.
It has 4 GB of usable memory that can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card, plus a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, recording movies in 720p. Its second camera has 2 Mpix.
The Karbonn Sparkle V costs a bit too much compared to what it offers. At the same price you can have a Moto G with a higher resolution screen, a slightly better processor, more memory, faster wireless connectivity, a GLONASS compatible GPS, and a better camera.
