Folding electric scooters are nothing new, they have been produced for years and need to be acknowledged as useful. They can be improved and equipped with additional features, and this task was undertaken by two London designers who created a device called eFoldi.
EFoldi is the work of Jianmin and SumiWang, the father and daughter of a London-based maker of various inventions. Their latest project is a gadget that is a true Transformer, as the electric scooter can transform into a comfortable chair as well as a suitcase.
The idea of creating this extraordinary project came when Jianmin broke his leg, making it difficult to move. And since he is the chief engineer of the Chinese National Acrobat Squad, he has the technical expertise to create an electric scooter equipped with mechanisms to change his destiny.
As an electric scooter, the eFold can travel at speeds of 6 to 20 km / h. When not in use, it can be folded into a suitcase to facilitate vehicle transport. Or you can turn it into a comfortable chair to relax in crowded airports or bus stations.
The frame is made of a combination of aluminum and steel, so it weighs only 19 kg. Tests have shown that although the vehicle can withstand a load of up to 150 kg, the recommended mass should not be greater than 100 kg.
The scooter is powered by two types of battery. For regular travel, you use the weight of a 1.1 kg AirSafe (24 V, 4 Ah) package that can be taken on board most airlines. During testing the batteries allow you to drive a distance of 6-10 km and full charging takes 1.5 hours. For further travel use FarReach batteries (24 V, 12 Ah), which weigh 2.7 kg. You can drive 20-30 km depending on the type of terrain and the weight of the passenger. They charge up to 4.5 hours.
