Board with Intel Optane memory included. MSI has announced the introduction of its Z270 Tomahawk OPT Boost motherboard. This is a product designed to work with Core 6 and 7 Core processors to offer really good overclocking capabilities. Equipment can also appeal to fans of relatively simple design.
MSI Z270 Tomahawk OPT Boost is an ATX motherboard with Intel Z270 chipset and LGA1151 socket. The board provides four banks for DDR4 3800 MHz RAM, which can accommodate 64 GB total memory modules. There are three PCIe 3.0 x16 (x16 / x4 / x1) slots and three PCIe 3.0 x1 slots on the laminate. We also have access to six SATA and two M.2 connectors, one of which is standardly occupied by the 16 GB Intel Optane memory module. This product is included free of charge.
The board provides four USB 3.0 ports and four USB 2.0 ports to the front panel. The manufacturer has equipped the device with Realtek ALC892 audio codec and Intel I219-V gigabit network. On the back panel we find one PS / 2 port, two USB 2.0, four USB 3.1 Gen1 Type-A, one USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-A and one USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C. We also have two DVI-D and HDMI video outputs as well as an RJ-45 connector and a set of audio jacks.
The price of the product has not been reported yet, but if you believe MSI is providing free Intel Optane memory, the model should cost as much as the standard Z270 Tomahawk. It is worth mentioning that the B250M Bazooka OPT Boost and B250M PRO OPT Boost also offer the same Optane memory module as the Z270 Tomahawk OPT Boost.
