Chinese company Meizu launches its latest smartphone PRO 5, and its appearance is preceded by an interesting promotional campaign. The manufacturer directs it to the users of the competing smartphone OnePlus 2, offering everyone a replacement for their latest model.
Smartphone manufacturer introducing a new model to the market often set up a campaign to take customers to their rivals. As part of such a campaign, users are encouraged to take advantage of competing hardware for their free replacement for their model. This is also the campaign Meizu is leading, and direct it to the current owners of OnePlus 2.
The campaign uses the #TurnTheHeatOff hashtag, which apparently refers to problems with the overheating Snapdragon 810 processor installed in OnePlus 2. Meizu also smiles at his rival #TurnNFCOn hashtag, ridiculing the lack of this NFC chip in this way.
Meizu PRO 5 on sale is available from 12 October. The smartphone features a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and an eight-core Exynos 7420 processor with a Mali-T760MP8 graphics unit. Depending on the variant it has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of usable memory or 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of flash memory. The configuration is complemented by a 21 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera.
