Kaby Lake-X on Gigabyte board. Two entries for the Intel Core i7-7740K, the Kaby Lake-X for the new HEDT platform, were found in the SiSoft Sandra Diagnostics database. This system is a quad core and octal unit.
According to previous reports, the Kaby Lake-X processor will have a PCI Express 3.0 controller with 16 signal lines that can be used for a single PCIE 3.0 x16 slot or split into x1, x8, x2, and x4 slots. Kaby Lake-X is also to be devoid of an integrated graphics processor, probably in order to develop its space for other components. The new design is also a four-channel DDR4 RAM controller.
In Sandra’s database we have entries showing that the Core i7-7740K has been tested on the Gigabyte X299 Gaming 3 motherboard. Its base clock was 4.2 GHz and the maximum Turbo frequency was 4.5 GHz.
In addition to the quad-core Kaby Lake-X, the new HEDT Intel platform will soon be enriched with Skylake-X processors in the form of 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-core units. The most powerful models offer up to 44 PCI Express 3.0 signal lines.
