HTC U certified with IP57 and dual-SIM but without 3.5 mm headphone jack

HTC U (almost) without secrets. The technical specifications of the new Taiwanese leading smartphone have been available for a long time now, and we have now learned more about its construction details. Unfortunately, some of them awaken mixed feelings.

According to the editor of GSMArena HTC U will be equipped with a housing to protect equipment against harmful effects of water and dust. The company decided on an IP57 compliant enclosure. This should please those who are waiting for the new Taiwanese flag, but it is hard not to notice that the high-end smartphone would require an IP67 certificate.

The HTC U is also available in both single and dual SIM cards. Unfortunately, the device will not get a 3.5 mm audio output. This means that smartphone owners will either need to get a special adapter or buy a new handset.

The HTC U will be equipped with a 5.5-inch QHD screen, SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, 12 megapixel camera and a 16 megapixel selfie image sensor. The whole should work under Android 7.1 Nougat with Sense 9 overlay. The phone is expected to be officially announced before the end of this month.
